This research explores the potentials of “Metro+Ridehailing” mode for serving inconvenient transit trips in Shanghai, with particular respect to:

 

• Understand spatial-temporal distribution of ride hailing trips in various rail transit network gaps and what factors affect the rail transit network gap levels.

 

• Identify potential ridehailing trips that can be shifted to “Metro+Ridehailing” mode and what factors influence people’s “Metro+Ridehailing” mode choice.

 

• Measure the benefits of “Metro+Ridehailing” mode from environmental and travel convenience perspectives.
